POSITION
Zoo Animal Keeper - Reptile Specialist

Abu Dhabi UAE

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the Zoo Animal Keeper - Reptile Specialist position is to ensure the health, welfare, and enrichment of zoo animals through daily care, feeding, habitat maintenance, and observation.
QUALIFICATIONS / LICENSES / SKILLS
- Minimum of 2 years working with reptiles in zoo facilities.
- Knowledge of animal training techniques and the application of positive reinforcement
- Fluent in English
DUTIES

- Prepare and provide species-specific diets, ensuring proper nutrition.
- Monitor feeding behaviors and adjust diets as needed.
- Clean and sanitize enclosures, habitats, and holding areas.
- Ensure habitats are safe, secure, and meet the animals' physical and behavioral needs.
- Observe animals daily for signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes.
- Record observations and report concerns to veterinary or supervisory staff.
- Maintain accurate records of feeding, health observations, treatments, and enrichment activities
- Adhere to safety protocols for working with animals, including potentially dangerous species.
- Work with other keepers, veterinarians, and zoo staff to ensure coordinated care and operation
- Mentor and train new staff or interns as needed.
